SGTrackies Trackday on 19 May 2008

After resting for a long 3 months, it was time to hit the track again. This was the first time that I was using real semi-slicks (Yokohama a048). Hopes was high that the tyres will perform for me before I set off in the early wee hours. However, the results tell otherwise. I only found out from Freddy after the trackday that my driving style has to change and I was running way too high pressure for the a048.

With this silliness, the only thing I got was a slightly smoother line with the same timing achieved by the previous RT615 street tyres that I had used. It was quite a demoralising result. Nevertheless, it was only the begining for me to learn more about using semis and I am cofident that through practise, experience and guidance, there will be a day that I should be able to take advantage of what the semis could provide. I can't wait for the next trackday to try it out.

This was my best lap recorded at 2:47:21. It was exactly the same timing as the previous track day. Some minor changes involves 3rd gear into T4 and 4th gear into T7, T8. I have not been able to carry alot of speed into those turns but I do noticed that a048 does offer better grip at corner exit and I should be able to put the power on back much ealier.
